FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas and University of Michigan, two storied programs that have met only once on the gridiron, have agreed to a home-and-home series starting in 2018, the schools announced today.

The series would begin in Michigan in 2018 and move to Arkansas the next year. The games are scheduled for Sept. 1, 2018 in Ann Arbor and Aug. 31, 2019 at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville.

“We are pleased to be able to add the University of Michigan to our football schedules for the 2018 and 2019 seasons,” Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long said. “The home and home series will feature matchups between two tradition rich programs representing two outstanding conferences. As a program, we will continue to look for opportunities to schedule high-profile non-conference opponents to further enhance our national profile and complement our competitive Southeastern Conference schedule.”

The Razorbacks and Wolverines met for the first time in the 1999 Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Fla. Arkansas will be playing a Big Ten member in the regular season for the first time since a 38-7 win over Northwestern in Little Rock during the 1981 season. The last time Arkansas faced a Big Ten opponent was in the 2011 Sugar Bowl against Ohio State.

Vanderbilt was the last SEC team to play at Michigan (2006) and prior to that Georgia visited Ann Arbor in 1965. Since the first season of SEC football in 1933, Michigan has never played a league team at their home venue.
