JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas State University head football coach Hugh Freeze says senior safety A.J. Hills has been indefinitely suspended for a violation of team rules.

Freeze said in a statement Tuesday he is aware of a "situation" involving Hills, but he didn't specify what that meant. He said once all the facts are uncovered, officials will "move forward appropriately."

Freeze said he wouldn't have any additional comment. A call to the school's athletic department wasn't immediately returned.

The announcement came shortly before the Red Wolves' Sun Belt Conference game against Florida International University Tuesday night.

Hills played in?Arkansas State's first six games, recording 46 tackles, two fumble recoveries and two pass break-ups.
