Arkansas State beats South Alabama 8-1

JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) — Jacob Lee allowed just four hits in seven innings to help lead Arkansas State to an 8-1 victory over South Alabama in Sun Belt Conference play.

The Red Wolves (24-19, 13-7 SBC) took control of Friday's game in the first inning and were leading 5-0 when Nolan Earley hit a two-out single to center field in the top of the seventh to cut the deficit for South Alabama (18-28, 12-10 SBC) to four runs.

Arkansas State then answered with a run in the bottom of the seventh and two more runs in the eighth.

Michael Faulkner had three RBIs and Zach George added two for the Red Wolves.

Lee (6-1) struck out three.

Phillip Byrd (3-3) lost, allowing six hits and five runs in 6 1-3 innings for South Alabama.
