Arkansas enters SEC Tourney as No. 6 seed

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – After closing the regular season with a three-game sweep at Tennessee, the Arkansas baseball team has earned the sixth seed at the 2012 Southeastern Conference Baseball Tournament and will open play on Tuesday against seventh-seeded Mississippi State. The game between the Razorbacks and Bulldogs is the second game of the tournament and will begin approximately 30 minutes after game one, which is set to start at 9:30 a.m.

The Arkansas-Mississippi State game will be televised by SportSouth and will be available in Northwest Arkansas on Fox Sports Southwest.

The Razorbacks are in the SEC Tournament for the ninth time under head coach Dave Van Horn and for the fourth consecutive year. Arkansas finished the regular season with a 39-17 overall record and a 16-14 mark in conference place. The Razorbacks finished tied for second in the SEC Western Division and tied for fifth overall in the league.

The other first round matchup on Arkansas’ side of the bracket features No. 4 seed Kentucky and No. 9 seed Ole Miss. The Wildcats and Rebels will face off on Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m. The lowest seed to win in the first round will face top seed LSU on Wednesday, while the highest seed to win in the first round will not play again until Thursday. The two losers from Tuesday will face off in an elimination game on Wednesday morning at 9:30 a.m.

The other side of the tournament bracket features No. 2 seed South Carolina, No. 3 seed Florida, No. 5 seed Vanderbilt, No. 8 seed Georgia and No. 10 seed Auburn.

CSS and SportSouth will team up to show every game from the first five days of the tournament. The championship game, scheduled for Sunday at 2:30 p.m., will be televised by ESPN2.
