FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) — BJ Young has quickly turned into Arkansas' primary offensive option, and the freshman hasn't even started a game yet.

Young, one of four heralded recruits for first-year Razorbacks coach Mike Anderson, leads Arkansas' current group of healthy players with an average of 15.4 points. The 6-foot-3 guard scored a career-high 28 points in a 75-62 loss at Connecticut last Saturday.

The Razorbacks (5-2) were expected to struggle following a season-ending knee injury to junior forward Marshawn Powell after their second game.

Young has done his best to pick up the slack. After scoring only two points in his collegiate debut, the freshman has averaged 17.7 in his last six games — numbers Arkansas is counting on as it prepares to face Oklahoma on Saturday ahead of Southeastern Conference play.
