LITTLE ROCK, AR – Senior outfielder Sean Bignall has won his second-straight Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week award, the league office announced in a release Monday.

Bignall put together one of the greatest individual performances in UALR history in the Trojans’ 20-8 defeat of South Dakota State on Wednesday, going 4-for-5 with three home runs, a double, six RBI and four runs scored. Bignall becomes the first player since Bryce Brentz of Middle Tennessee in the 2009 season to win the award in back-to-back weeks.

Bignall set a new school record for total bases in a single game (14) in the win over SDSU, while his three homers tied the UALR single-game mark. The Brampton, Ontario, native finished the week with three multi-hit games, hitting .375 (9-for-24) with 12 RBI, six runs scored, two doubles, a triple and three home runs to help UALR to a 4-1 record over that span. Bignall also sports a .917 slugging percentage and .400 OBP over the last five games.

Last week, Bignall was awarded for his performance in the Trojans’ three-game sweep at UT Martin, where the senior hit three home runs, totaled 12 RBI and hit .667 in the series against the Skyhawks. His tenth-inning solo shot proved to be the game winner in the Trojans’ 12-11 victory in the series finale on Sunday.

Currently, the senior leads or is tied for the league lead in hits (28), RBI (33), doubles (7), home runs (9), total bases (64) and slugging percentage (1.016). He also ranks second in the conference in hitting (.444) and runs (21), and is fifth in OBP (.513).
