GRIMES WINS CONFERENCE HONOR

CONWAY, Ark. _ After a career rushing day last Saturday, University of Central Arkansas running back Brent Grimes was named the Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.

Grimes, a senior from Baton Rouge, La., rushed for a career-high 181 yards on a career-high 39 carries in last Saturday's game against 10th-ranked McNeese State. Grimes scored two touchdowns to push his career school record to 58 touchdowns and his career scoring record to 348 points.

   Grimes, the No. 2 rusher and scorer in the Southland this season, topped the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the first time last week and has 1,085 rushing yards this season. He is now fifth in career rushing at UCA with 2,923 yards.

   Grimes will be one of 23 UCA seniors playing the final games of their careers on Saturday when the Bears host North Dakota. Kickoff is 1 p.m. at First Security Field at Estes Stadium.
