Gaines Named Freshman All-American

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas safety Rohan Gaines was named a first-team Freshman All-American by FoxSportsNext, it was announced Friday.

Gaines, who was voted to the SEC All-Freshman Team announced Thursday, ranked third among the conference’s freshmen with 75 tackles, the second-highest total on the team in 2012. The Bainbridge, Ga., native also tied for fourth among Razorbacks with four pass breakups and added one forced fumble and one quarterback hurry. Gaines appeared in all 12 games and made 10 starts. He made a career-high 11 tackles against Alabama in one of four games with nine or more tackles and recorded a career-high three pass breakups at No. 12 South Carolina.

Gaines is the Razorbacks’ first Freshman All-American since 2010, when Alvin Bailey was selected to the FWAA Freshman All-American Team.
