HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) — Freshman Megan Hartness scored 16 points to lead Greenwood to its second title in two years with a 52-37 win over Paragould in the girls Arkansas Class 5A state championship game.
The Lady Bulldogs (27-4) led by as many as 20 points in the first half and didn't let up in the second behind Hartness, who was 6 of 9 from the field, 3 of 4 on 3-pointers. They also won the 2010 championship under coach Clay Reeves.
Greenwood extended its lead to as many as 24 in the third quarter before holding on in the fourth, finishing 19 of 39 (49 percent) from the field. Lundon Williams added 10 points for the Lady Bulldogs.
Sydney Layrock led the Lady Rams (26-5) with 16 points.
