FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Razorback Foundation Executive Director Harold Horton has announced his retirement.

The university said Monday that Horton will leave his post effective July 31.

Horton has led the private fundraising arm Razorback athletics since 2008. He was named to the top job after 11 years as its vice president.

Horton will carry the title of executive director emeritus.

Horton played for the Razorbacks from 1959 through 1961 under then-coach Frank Broyles, winning the Southwest Conference each year. Broyles took him on as linebackers coach in 1968. Horton took over defensive line coaching duties in 1977 and served in that role for four years under Lou Holtz.

Horton's son, Tim, is running back coach for the Razorbacks.
