FRISCO, TX – The Southland Conference will offer a 90-minute preview special during the league’s annual football media day on Wednesday, which will be carried live nationally on ESPN3 and on the Southland Conference Digital Network.

“Live from Southland Media Day” will be available from 1:30-3 p.m., CT, originating from L’auberge Resort in Lake Charles, La. The show will include interviews with the head coaches and student-athletes from all eight football-playing institutions in the Southland, plus the head coaches of three schools set to begin league play in 2014.

“Media day is the unofficial start to a highly anticipated 2013 football season,” Southland Conference assistant commissioner for television Chris Mycoskie said. “The live preview show gives fans a great opportunity to hear from the Southland's coaches, as well as some of the top student-athletes, before the pads start popping.”

The program will be hosted by Lincoln Rose, who will provide play-by-play during all Southland football broadcasts on ESPN3 this season, and Brooke Bentley, a sideline reporter on the Southland Conference Television Network and sports anchor for the network’s Houston affiliate KUBE.

The production is the first of the season for the Southland TV Network, which is entering its sixth year and fresh off its second College Sports Media Awards honor for the nation’s best live event production. The conference will broadcast a record 19 football games this year. Eight will be carried on the syndicated network, which includes more than 20 affiliates in the region. Six are scheduled as exclusive presentations on ESPN3, while five will be carried solely by Comcast SportsNet Houston.

“Live from Southland Media Day” is also the season’s first live offering on the Southland Digital Network, which debuted last summer. In addition to offering the stream on Southland.org, the show also will be available on the official Southland mobile app for iPhone, iPad and Android devices.

ESPN3 is ESPN’s live multi-screen sports network, a destination that delivers thousands of global sports events annually and accessible online via WatchESPN.com, on smart phones and tablets via the WatchESPN app and through ESPN on Xbox Live to Gold members. It is currently available to 83 million households at no additional cost to fans who receive their high-speed Internet connection or video subscription from an affiliated service provider. ESPN3 also is available at no cost to approximately 21 million U.S. college students and U.S.-based military personnel via computers connected to on-campus educational networks and on-base military networks.

The program will also be available tape-delayed by a pair of regional sports networks. Cox Sports Television will first present the preview Thursday at 3:30 p.m., CT, while Comcast SportsNet Houston will carry the show Sunday at 10:30 p.m., CT. Several additional airings are planned for the following days and weeks.

Nationally, the Southland football preview can be seen on Fox College Sports Central Thursday at 6 p.m., CT.
