NEWPORT, Ark. (AP) — Newport guard E.J. Rucker has become the fourth high school boys' basketball player in state history to score more than 2,000 points in his career.
Rucker, a senior, hit the milestone last week after scoring 30 points against Clinton. Rucker now has 2,010 points over the course of his high-school career.
The Arkansas Activities Association says Bennie Fuller of the Arkansas School for the Deaf holds the state record with 4,896 points from 1968 to 1971. Jim Bryan of Valley Springs is second with 2,792 points scored from 1955 to 1958. In third place is Allan Pruett of Rector who scored 2,018 points from 1963 to 1966.
