ARLINGTON, Texas — The Cotton Bowl is sticking with its prime-time spot on a Friday night again next year.

Cotton Bowl officials and Fox Sports announced Monday that the 2013 game will be played on Jan. 4, the third consecutive year the game at Cowboys Stadium will be played on a Friday night after New Year’s Day.

The Cotton Bowl was traditionally played on New Year’s Day before switching last year to a Friday night. LSU defeated Texas A&M 41-24 in that game.

This year’s game will be played this Friday when No. 7 Arkansas plays No. 11 Kansas State.

Fox Sports has televised the Cotton Bowl since 1999. Fox Sports president Eric Shanks says the game is one of the network’s premiere events. The game is sponsored by AT&T.
