Razorback player on National Pitcher of the Year list

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas pitcher Ryne Stanek has been placed on the watch list for the National Pitcher of the Year award, presented by the College Baseball Hall of Fame.

Officials said Wednesday Stanek is one of 51 pitchers nationwide on the list..

Stanek has posted a 6-2 record with a 2.30 ERA in 10 starts this season. He is tied for third in the Southeastern Conference in wins and his ERA is the fifth-lowest in the league.

He has struck out 57 batters in 58.2 innings and is holding opposing hitters to a .238 batting average.

The winner of the Pitcher of the Year Award will be announced June 30 in Lubbock, Texas, as part of the annual College Baseball Night of Champions.

Arkansas returns to action this weekend at Florida.
