Razorbacks Run Through First Practice

Arkansas rings in the new year with a practice at Cowboys Stadium
Arlington, TX - The Razorbacks worked out in shorts Sunday, but they could have easily been in suits.

It was a professional atmosphere around Cowboy Stadium, as the Hogs went through their first Cotton Bowl practice in Texas.

The focused approach is a welcome sight, because in their last two bowl games, they came out flat.

"This is definitely a business trip," said sophomore center Travis Swanson.  "That Sugar Bowl still wears on me from last year."

"We had our fun 2-3 weeks before this week," said junior running back Dennis Johnson.  "Now it's time to get down and grind."

Last year the players said some guys were more focused on Bourbon Street than the bowl game.  This year in Dallas, there won't be any distractions.

"No no, we got those out of the way back in '08 or '09, the first time we were here," said senior defensive end Jake Bequette.

"We've been to Dallas a lot so we know how it is," added Johnson.

It's a different story for Kansas State, the bright lights of Dallas have the Wildcats wide-eyed.

"This is crazy, I've never seen a TV that big in my life," said Wildcat freshman Daniel Sams when referencing the Cowboys massive jumbotron.

"Even walking out of the tunnel seeing how big it is, it's a real experience," said Kansas State senior defensive end Jordan Voelker.  "It's completely different from being up in the stands."

So how will Coach Bill Snyder control his 'Cats in Big D?

"Beginning tomorrow night, we're going to the tie them to their beds," joked Snyder.  "You have to put faith and trust in young people that they won't wear themselves out."
