ITTA BENA, Miss. (AP) — In a defensive struggle, Arkansas-Pine Bluff scored twice in the last three minutes of the first half, then shut out Mississippi Valley State until the fourth quarter in a 15-3 victory on Saturday.

It was the season finale for MVSU (1-10, 1-8 Southwest Athletic Conference) and helped Arkansas-Pine Bluff get to .500 (5-5, 4-4).

The game was scoreless until, with 2:34 left before halftime, Golden Lions' quarterback Ben Anderson scored on a 1-yard run. A 2-point conversion pass from Aaron Godwin to Xavier Lofton made it 8-0. Two minutes later, Stephen Jones scored Arkansas-Pine Bluff's second touchdown on a 10-yard run 34 seconds before halftime.

The Golden Lions intercepted MVSU's Garrick Jones twice and sacked him three times. The Delta Devils finally scored on a 27-yard field goal by Carlos Sanchez on the first play of the fourth quarter.
