Western Kentucky edges Arkansas State 79-76

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) — T.J. Price's 3-pointer with 2 seconds remaining lifted Western Kentucky to a 79-76 victory over Arkansas State in a Sun Belt Conference game Thursday night.

George Fant scored 19 points for the Hilltoppers (10-18, 6-9), making 8 of 9 shots. He hit two layups 33 seconds apart and added a free throw after the second to give Western Kentucky a 74-69 lead with 1:51 remaining.

The Hilltoppers led 76-72 at the 42-second mark after a layup by Derrick Gordon, who finished with 16 points. Trey Finn hit two free throws for the Red Wolves (12-18, 6-9) and Darion Griswold added two more with 17 seconds left to tie it after making a steal.

There were 16 lead changes and 15 ties in the game.

Kahlil McDonald and Teeng Akol added 14 points each for Western Kentucky.

Malcolm Kirkland led Arkansas State with 22 points, Griswold had 15 and Finn 14.
