Arkansas Tech Unveils 2014 Class

39 new players will join the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys football program, with 19 of the signing seniors coming from Arkansas, head coach Raymond Monica announced Wednesday.

RUSSELLVILLE, AR – 39 new players will join the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys football program, with 19 of the signing seniors coming from Arkansas, head coach Raymond Monica announced Wednesday.

“I think coach Kyle Shipp did a great job coordinating our recruiting efforts,” said head coach Raymond Monica. “He has been a tremendous asset since I have been here. We have been able to successfully recruit in-state and I think we’ve filled some needs. We addressed some needs on the offensive and defensive line, and I feel like we did a really good job up front. We also needed to create some depth in the secondary, and I think we did.”

Will Anderson
TE-DE / 6-6 / 215 / Huntsville, Ark. (Huntsville HS)
Notched 66 tackles, including six for loss… four sacks and two QB hurries… recovered two fumbles… an all-district and all-academic selection… an all-state honoree… winner of the Brandon Burlsworth Award… team MVP… also lettered in basketball.

Brady Barbay
OL / 6-1 / 260 / Coldspring, Texas (Coldspring-Oakhurst HS)
Anchored an offensive line that averaged 328 rushing yards per game… a two-time first team all-district selection, was also named acdademic all-state and second team all-state as a senior… ranked second in his class… part of a team that has won four consecutive district championships… a district champion in the discus throw and a regional qualifier in the discus throw and powerlifting.

Daniel Barnes

No penalties… notched 15 pancake blocks and 25 champion blocks… average grade of 91% after 13 games… an all-conference selection, helped his team to the state semifinals… his high school coach says he “does a great job of leading the offensive line.”

Logan Bartholomew

An all-conference selection… averaged 14.6 yards per carry as a senior… led his team to a 10-2 record and a playoff appearance… was named outstanding defensive player as well as outstanding running back for his team… also ran track, qualifying for the state meet each year in high school.

Bret Bell

A three-time all-conference and all-state selection… led his team to an 11-3 record and a state runner-up finish… posted 105 tackles with one fumble recovery and two pass breakups with nine sacks as a senior.

Andrew Craig

Racked up 80 tackles and three interceptions… forced three fumbles and scored a defensive touchdown as a senior… a second team all-district safety… named defensive captain and defensive backs MVP… his father played college football at East Central… his high school coach says he “is really versatile and contributes in all aspects of the game.”

Jackob Dean

Threw for 1,000 yards with seven touchdowns as a senior… as a junior, had 750 receiving yards, 1,100 rushing yards, and eight rushing touchdowns. A first team all-conference selection, also was named honorable mention all-state… won the team leadership award and was named offensive player of the year… also ran track, competing in the 200-meter dash, long jump, and high jump.

Rodrick Douglas

Racked up 75 tackles, 12 sacks, and three fumble recoveries… also forced three fumbles… an all-district selection three times… also was named all-area and all-northeast texas… an all-state selection as a junior… led his team to the state playoffs three times.

Jimmie Jackson

Trey Jackson

Justin Lewis
