Spoon’s Walk-off Single Lifts No. 24 Arkansas over Auburn in 10 Innings

The Arkansas baseball team rallied from a late deficit Saturday afternoon in game one of a doubleheader and used a walk-off single in the 10th inning to defeat Auburn 4-3 at Baum Stadium.
FAYETTEVILLE, AR - The Arkansas baseball team (28-17, 10-10 SEC) rallied from a late deficit Saturday afternoon in game one of a doubleheader and used a walk-off single in the 10th inning to defeat Auburn (24-20, 8-12) 4-3 at Baum Stadium.

The Razorbacks loaded the bases in the 10th inning with no outs, before Tyler Spoon came to the plate and delivered the team’s first walk-off win of the season with a single to right center, sending Arkansas to a 4-3 comeback win.

Michael Gunn (2-1) picked up the victory in relief, recording one out, which left the bases loaded for the Tigers in the top of the 10th. Jacob Stone worked 3.1 hitless innings, while Jalen Beeks got the start and tossed 6.1 innings and gave up two earned runs on five hits.

Eric Fisher finished the game with three hits, including a leadoff double in the 10th, and came around to score the winning run. Andrew Benintendi, Joe Serrano and Brian Anderson each recorded multi-hit games, while Jake Wise drove in a pair of runs, including the tying run in the eighth inning.

The Razorbacks and Tigers are currently playing game two of a doubleheader at Baum Stadium.
