Addressing Human Trafficking in Arkansas Through Hotline

Advocates say calls to hotline are increasing.
LITTLE ROCK, AR-- Statistics show in the first six months of 2013, there were more calls to the National Human Trafficking Resource Center Hotline than than 2012 altogether.

Advocates say the increased numbers don't mean there is an increase in cases, but it does mean more people are becoming aware about the problem.

"I really think this increase in calls coming from Arkansas is a direct result of the increased awareness not only about human trafficking, but also of the national hotline number and it's available resources," said Elizabeth Pfenning, National Human Trafficking Center Hotline worker.

Advocates say they hope momentum will continue to hopefully stop this problem.
