Benton Co. Dr. Pleads Not Guilty to Embezzlement

According to the report, Tejada may have even threatened a staff member to keep his dealings quiet, stating, "he knew someone in the mafia."
BENTONVILLE, AR -- A Benton County doctor accused of embezzlement has pleaded not guilty.

County Prosecutor Van Stone says Dr. Ruben Tejada entered the plea Monday.

Tejada was arrested in October on a charge of theft of property, in which according to the probable cause affidavit, an employee at Northwest Health System in Bentonville said the doctor was pocketing cash from self-pay patients.

According to the report, Tejada may have even threatened a staff member to keep his dealings quiet, stating, "he knew someone in the mafia."

The doctor is scheduled to be back in court on Feb. 18, 2014.
