Valparaiso, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - New Valparaiso football coach Dave Cecchini's staff has some familiar faces to help him rebuild the Crusaders program.
Cecchini has brought three assistants with him from Lehigh - Jason Miran, Vinny Giacalone and Justin Stovall - and added Ernest Moore, who also coached with Cecchini at the Patriot League power, from the University of Chicago.
The first-year head coach's staff, announced Tuesday, retains Valparaiso assistants Steven Donovan, John Snyder, Kasey Teegardin and Eric Deutsch.
Miran will serve as offensive coordinator and Moore has been tabbed defensive coordinator. Giacalone has been named the offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator, while Stovall will work as linebackers coach and special teams coordinator.
Donovan will shift from defensive line coach to tight ends coach, while Snyder will remain as running backs coach. In addition, Teegardin will move from special teams coordinator to defensive line coach and Deutsch will remain as an assistant defensive line coach.
Cecchini hopes to raise a program near the bottom of the FCS ranks. The Crusaders, from the non-scholarship Pioneer Football League, are a combined 4-51 over the past five seasons, including 1-10 last season.
