ACLU 'Shocked' Over Evolution Lesson at NLR School

During a PowerPoint presentation, a teacher at Lakewood Middle School provided students with arguments for both evolution and creation in her social studies class.
NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR -- Evolution versus creation taught in a North Little Rock classroom is stirring controversy in central Arkansas.

During a PowerPoint presentation, a teacher at Lakewood Middle School provided students with arguments for both evolution and creation in her social studies class.

But the ACLU caught wind of the presentation and is now weighing in saying the conversation about religion should stay at home and not in our public schools.

"It's just shocking that they could think this is remotely fine," said Rita Skylar with ACLU. "There is no comparison here. You've got religion and science."

School officials say they stand by their teacher and that she followed school curriculum and did nothing wrong.
