Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Houston Astros minor league shortstop Carlos Correa, the No. 1 overall pick of the 2012 MLB First-Year Player Draft, will miss the remainder of the 2014 season due to a fractured right fibula he suffered this past weekend.

Correa sustained the injury when he slid into third base on an RBI triple while playing for Class A Lancaster in a California League game Saturday against Lake Elsinore.

The Astros announced Wednesday that the 19-year-old underwent successful surgery in Houston and is expected to be ready in time for next season.

Correa, ranked as the No. 7 overall prospect by MLB.com entering this season, hit .325 with six home runs, 16 doubles, six triples and 57 RBI in 62 games for Lancaster. He had been slated to play in the All-Star Futures Game in Minneapolis on July 13.
