Benton Man Arrested Second Time for Alleged Drugging, Rape of Boy

James Gilliam was first arrested in Nov. 2013 but had been out of jail on bond.
BENTON, AR - A local man is back in jail after being charged a second time with drugging and raping an underage boy.

The Benton Police Department (BNPD) says James Gilliam, 33, is reported to have made contact with the second victim online.

According to the victim, Gilliam picked him up at his house in another Central Arkansas city and took him to his (Gilliam’s) home where he gave him illegal narcotics and then raped him.

Police say Gilliam was arrested on Tuesday after a lengthy investigation by detectives. A search warrant was then executed at his home, where numerous items were seized as evidence.

Gilliam is charged with Rape, Introduction of a Controlled Substance into the Body of Another Person, and Trafficking of Humans.

The BNPD says this is an on-going investigation and additional charges could be filed against Gilliam.

In his previous arrest, Gilliam was charged with similar crimes in Nov. 2013 involving a rape of a juvenile and released on a $10,000 bond.

Gilliam was initially given a $1,000,000 bond on the new charges when the arrest warrant was signed Tuesday, but the bond was reduced to $100,000 in a hearing today.

Gilliam is being held at the Saline County Detention Facility.
