Boxing Club Re-Opens After Damaged From Storms

A Maumelle non-profit boxing club reopens after straight line winds damaged it last year.
MAUMELLE, AR -- A non-profit boxing club -- destroyed by a storm in Maumelle -- is back open.

The club is a place where children learn how to box and adults can get in a good workout.

Last May, strong straight line winds mangled the outside of Morrison's Boxing Club and tore apart the inside.

Insurance dollars helped with a new building, but owner Bill Morrison relied on the help of friends and other trainers to fix up the inside.

With a large ring, punching bags and other equipment it's now back open for business.

Morrison said, "It makes me so happy I cry. I'm a big old baby anyway and that's why I am in this business."

Anyone ages eight and up can join the Boxing Club.
