Open Door Outreach out to help those in need.

LITTLE ROCK, AR.-The lined backed up into the street as hundreds waited to walk through the doors of the Watershed in Little Rock.

"I panicked because I was like we don't have enough stuff. we are going to run out in half an hour or 45 minutes. There are going to be people waiting outside for two hours to come in and not get anything," says volunteer Dee Dee Boniecki.

Open Doors Outreach community service group volunteer Dee Dee Boniecki was up making phone calls last night asking for last minute donations to ensure they filled this room for families waiting in line.

The group partnered with the Watershed for the second year to provide clothes and house hold items to those in need like Diane Phillips.

"They give you clothes, pots, pans, and anything that you need. i think its very wonderful to be over here and to live in a community that helps," says Phillips.

They call the event, Christmas in July. Volunteers allow people to fill up their bags with whatever they can find.

Open Doors Outreach hopes they made a dent in helping the community but Boniecki says the large turn out shows just how much Little Rock needs your help.

"To see hundreds of people outside already before the event starts and they are gathering three hours before it starts. I think that's a real indicator of how far we still need to go with helping people," says Boniecki.

The Open Door Outreach group is always looking for volunteers. If you are interested you can check out their website opendooroutreachnetwork.com .
