Comedian and late night host Conan O'Brien has saved his home in Rhode Island after settling an $8,000 tax bill on the property last week -- an issue the entertainer said he didn't initially know about.

Comedian and late night host Conan O'Brien has saved his home in Rhode Island after settling an $8,000 tax bill on the property.

The funnyman, who is based in Los Angeles, paid off the debt on Friday, saving the Westerly shore pad from auction.

O'Brien's publicist claims the star was unaware of the tax debt, blaming a clerical error for the mix-up.
