Milwaukee, WI (SportsNetwork.com) - The Chicago Cubs put right-handed relief pitcher Jose Veras on the 15-day disabled list Saturday.
Veras, who is sidelined with a left oblique strain, gave up two runs in one inning of relief in Thursday's 5-2 home loss to Arizona. For the season, he is 0-0 with a 15.88 ERA in six appearances. He was also supplanted as the closer.
The Cubs replaced Veras on the roster by recalling righty Brian Schlitter from Triple-A Iowa. Schlitter is 0-0 with a 6.35 ERA in six games this season for the parent club.
