Dodgers reach deal with Jansen

<p>The Los Angeles Dodgers avoided arbitration with closer Kenley Jansen by agreeing to terms with the hard- throwing right-hander on a one-year contract.</p>

Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Los Angeles Dodgers avoided arbitration with closer Kenley Jansen by agreeing to terms with the hard- throwing right-hander on a one-year contract.

CBSSports.com reports Jansen will receive $4.3 million for the upcoming season.

Jansen is coming off an outstanding 2013 campaign in which he recorded a career-best 28 saves while posting a 1.88 earned run average over 75 appearances for the National League West champion Dodgers. The 23-year-old added 111 strikeouts and limited opposing hitters to a .177 average over 76 2/3 innings of work.

Since breaking into the majors in 2010, Jansen has compiled a 12-7 record with a 2.10 ERA and 62 saves over 216 games with the Dodgers. The Curacao native has struck out 347 batters in 222 1/3 career innings as well.
