Some news about taking fish oil supplements plus another reason to give your regular workout routine a boost.
New research on fish oil supplements has caught the attention of men and their doctors.

While many people take omega-3 fatty acid supplements for their apparent heart health benefits, a new study links them to an increased risk for prostate cancer.

Researchers at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle confirmed an earlier study they did -- finding higher blood levels of omega-3's from fatty fish and fish oil supplements are associated with a 71-percent increased risk for high-grade prostate cancer.

But don't cut out the supplements just yet - talk to your doctor first... and just know more research needs to be done.

Meanwhile, men may need to amp up their exercise routine to cut their risk for stroke.

New research on more than 27-thousand adults in the U.S. finds men who exercised at moderate or vigorous intensity four or more times a week had a lower stroke risk.

For women -- the relationship between intense exercise and stroke was less clear. Experts say it may be that women can get the same benefit with less intense physical activity. Experts say working out works by lowering blood pressure, weight and diabetes. The American Heart Association recommends healthy adults get at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise at least 5 days a week.
