Fight after High School Basketball Game Leads to Arrests

The fight happened after the rivalry game between Sylvan Hills and Jacksonville

SHERWOOD, AR -- A fight after a high school basketball game involving two rivals ends when four people are arrested.

It happened Tuesday night in Sherwood in the game between Sylvan Hills and Jacksonville.

Investigators said the brawl happened outside of the gym.

In a police report, one detective writes that as soon as they arrived at the school, he wrestled with one of the participants to break up the fight and immediately arrested him.  The detective further writes the person he was arresting began making threats that he would "shoot everyone there" and that he was part of Blood Disciples, which is a gang.

Other police officers stopped fights that were taking place.

Leaders with the Pulaski County Special School District said the fights lasted only a few minutes, thanks to police and school security guards from both schools.

They don't want this to discourage parents, students, and fans from attending future games.

"Security is always a high priority with PCSSD. We will always have security presence at every event, mostly just to ensure safety of guests and students," said Mark Warren, director of safety and security for the Pulaski County Special School District.

School leaders said there was no backlash at any of the campuses on Wednesday.

The charges for the fight participants range from disorderly conduct to terroristic threatening.
