Jury selection was set to begin today in Shoffner's first trial.
She is accused of taking $36,000 from a bond broker. Despite taking the money, Shoffner alleges the payments didn't affect the decisions she made while in office.
Prosecutors believe Shoffner took the money to help ensure the broker received business with the state.
Shoffner resigned after she was indicted on 14-counts. Since that time, she's been charged with additional counts of mail fraud -- those charges will be decided in a separate trial.
