I-55 Bridge Reopens in Memphis after Barge Strike

Officials say crews quickly checked the bridge for structural damage after the 9 a.m. accident Wednesday.
MEMPHIS, TN - The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) reports that the I-55 bridge over the Mississippi River has been reopened after being shutdown following a barge strike.

The accident happened around 9 a.m. this morning. 

Crews with the Mississippi Department of Transportation quickly inspected the bridge for structural damage and reopened it around 10:45.

WMC-TV in Memphis reports there was no damage to the barge and no injuries were reported.
