Investigators Working to Identify Body Found in Arkansas River

DARDANELLE, AR -- Authorities are working to identify a body found in the Arkansas River.

According to KLRT Content Partner River Valley Leader, the Pope County Sheriff's Office, Arkansas Game and Fish, a Pope County Office of Emergency Management crew, the Yell County Sheriff's Office and the Pope County Coroner's Office responded to the Sweeden Island Park Recreation Area.

The discovery was made some time before 11:00 a.m. Saturday.

The body has been transported to the crime lab.

Identification is expected no sooner than Monday.
