LITTLE ROCK, AR -- The Little Rock community is dealing with yet another murder on the streets.

The latest happened in a neighborhood off John Barrow Road.

It was the 10th killing in the city so far this month making April the deadliest month since 1993, according to FOX16 archives.

"This violence, it has to stop," said Essence Sherrod, mother of a man killed April 21st.

The 2700 block of Longcoy Street became a crime scene just after 2:00pm Saturday when witnesses say they heard three gun shots go off.

"At first, I thought it was fire crackers," Sherrod said.

When emergency responders arrived at the scene they found a man lying in the street with a gun shot to the abdomen.

"We just had come back from laying my son to rest," Sherrod said.  She is the mother of Bernard Sherrod who was shot and killed Monday at an apartment complex off Cantrell Road.  She says family members gathered Saturday when violence struck again.

"I didn't see who shot him," Sherrod said.  "All I was worried about was trying get him and keep him with us and not lose that child.  I just lost my child, and I know how that mother is going to feel."

The victim Saturday died at the hospital.  Now, sadly, there will be another family holding a funeral.  The latest causality of a deadly month in the city of Little Rock.

"I think that it's terrible," Sherrod said.  "I think that no mother should have to lay their child to rest.  That is a feeling they cannot explain."

Little Rock Police have not released any information identifying the suspect or victim in this case.
