Miami, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Seattle Mariners recalled pitcher Brandon Maurer from Triple-A Tacoma and named him the starter for Sunday's series finale against the Miami Marlins.
Maurer made his major league debut with the Mariners in 2013 and went 5-8 with a 6.30 earned run average over 22 games, including 14 starts.
The 23-year-old right-hander has appeared in four games with one start at Tacoma this season, posting a 2.16 ERA with 17 strikeouts over 8 1/3 innings.
To make room for Maurer on the roster, Seattle optioned outfielder James Jones to Tacoma.
Jones made his big league debut on Friday and collected his first hit in his only plate appearance with the Mariners.
