Jupiter, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Miami Marlins infielder Ed Lucas suffered a non-displaced fracture in his left hand during Thursday's spring training game against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Lucas sustained the injury in the top of the eight inning when he was plunked by St. Louis right-hander Scott McGregor.

The 31-year-old infielder made his major league debut with the Marlins in 2013 and batted .256 with four home runs and 28 RBI in 94 games.

Infielder Donovan Solano will be recalled Friday to fill the open roster spot after being sent down on Thursday. Lucas beat out Solano to earn his spot on the roster, but will now start the season on the disabled list.

Solano, 26, has hit .269 with five homers, 62 RBI and 10 stolen bases in 195 games with the Marlins over the past two seasons. He was originally signed by the Cardinals as an amateur free agent in 2005, but didn't make it to the big leagues until 2012 with Miami.
