Maumelle High Student Arrested After Bringing Gun to School

The campus was on lockdown in the Tuesday morning incident.

MAUMELLE, AR - An 18-year-old who attends Maumelle High School has been arrested after being accused of bringing a gun to campus.

Maumelle Police identify him as James Zantrese Austin, 18. He faces a felony charge of carrying a weapon on campus.

Police say the gun was found on a bookshelf in a classroom Tuesday morning. 

The school was immediately placed on lockdown and anxious parents gathered outside to find out what was happening.

We're told no shots were fired and no one was injured.
