Money Alert: Fiscal Distress Extension for PCSSD

The State Board of Education is voting to give Pulaski County Special School District a fiscal distress extension for one year.
LITTLE ROCK, AR - The State Board of Education is voting to give Pulaski County Special School District (PCSSD) a fiscal distress extension for one year.

The two critical issues facing the district: the loss of desegregation money which is $20 million a year,
and the very real possibility that Jacksonville will separate from PCSSD.

"So as we adjust to loss of deseg money and we prepare to the loss of Jacksonville if that is ratified by their voters it will be a matter in the long run of the district being more efficient and more effectively run," says PCSSD Superintendent Dr. Jerry Guess.

The State Board of Education also voted to give a fiscal distress extension for another year to the Helena West Helena School District.
