National Information Hack Affects 8 Arkansas Hospitals

Millions of patient records stolen nationwide.
NEW YORK (CNNMoney) - Community Health Systems, which operates 206 hospitals across the United States, announced on Monday that hackers recently broke into its computers and stole data on 4.5 million patients.

Hackers have gained access to their names, Social Security numbers, physical addresses, birthdays and telephone numbers.

The company's hospitals operate in 28 states, including Arkansas, where it runs 10 hospitals in these cities: Forrest City, Newport, Helena, El Dorado, Bentonville, Springdale, Siloam Springs, Fort Smith, Van Buren, and Johnson.

Note: Officials with Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith and Summit Medical Center in Van Buren say records from those facilities were not affected.

  • Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith. Note: Officials with Sparks say records from the facility were not affected.
