NLR School Teacher Arrested on Drug Charges

Kerry Evans Jr., 23, of North Little Rock was stopped after rolling through a stop sign.
JACKSONVILLE, AR - A teacher for the North Little Rock School District has been arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop.

It happened on Saturday on Pinewood Court.

Jacksonville Police say Kerry Evans Jr., 23, of North Little Rock was driving a Nissan that rolled through a stop sign at Municipal Rd. and N. Redmond Road.

After police pulled the car over, the officer noticed tobacco in the vehicle and an open package of Swisher sweet cigars on the back floorboard.

When the officer asked Evans and a woman in the car with him if they smoked, police say they both said no.

At that point a K9 officer was called to the scene and police say the dog found a plastic baggie containing a green leafy substance in the driver's door storage compartment.

Evans was then arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and running a stop sign.
