San Diego, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The San Diego Padres placed pitcher Robbie Erlin on the 15-day disabled list Thursday, retroactive to Sunday, with left elbow soreness.
Erlin last pitched on Saturday and gave up four runs on nine hits over five innings. In nine games, including eight starts this season, the 23-year-old left-hander went 3-4 with a 4.53 earned run average.
To fill the vacated roster spot, San Diego selected the contract of pitcher Blaine Boyer from Triple-A El Paso. Boyer, who hasn't appeared in the majors since 2011, went 1-2 with a 3.32 ERA over 18 appearances at El Paso this season.
