LITTLE ROCK, AR -- The National Weather Service has placed Central Arkansas and the majority of the state under a tornado watch.

According to the NWS, a "particularly dangerous situation" tornado watch has been issued for much of central and southern Arkansas until 11 p.m.

The southwestern third of the state has been upgraded to a "high risk" for severe weather. Inside that high risk there is a 30% chance of a tornado within 25 miles of any given point.

The bulk of the rest of the state is under a moderate risk for severe weather.

The Arkansas Storm Team is on standby and will broadcast live on Fox16 in the event life-threatening weather moves through Central Arkansas.
