LITTLE ROCK, AR - No grand prize winner in the Wednesday night Powerball drawing has given the jackpot for Saturday night's draw a big boost. It's now at $221 million.
In last night's draw there were 3,897 prize winning tickets sold in Arkansas. Prizes won ranged from matching just the Powerball® number for $4 to matching four of the first five numbers drawn for a $100 prize.
On Saturday, April 5, there was no top prize winner either, but there was a huge result for one lucky Powerball player in Arkansas. A ticket bought in Eureka Springs at the Rapid Roberts location on E. Van Buren matched the first five numbers drawn, winning that player a cool million dollars ($1,000,000). The ticketholder, Nancy Silvers, asked for a Quick Pick ticket for that Saturday draw.
Nancy and her husband William came into the Arkansas Lottery Claims Center in Little Rock, Monday April 7 to claim the cash. Nancy told lottery officials she shared the winning information first with her husband and her mother, before claiming the prize. She said she intends to pay off some of her debts before making additional plans for the money.
Powerball® is a multi-state jackpot game. Drawings are held at 9:59 p.m. CST every Wednesday and Saturday. Five numbered balls are drawn from 1 to 59 and one numbered ball is drawn from 1 to 35. If all your numbers match those that are chosen, you win the jackpot, which starts at $40 million and grows until someone wins. If other players also match all six numbers, the prize will be shared in equal amounts. Each Powerball play is $2. For an additional dollar, you can add the PowerPlay option to increase non-jackpot winnings by as much as a million dollars.
In other lottery news, there was no top prize winner in the Natural State Jackpot Wednesday night, Thursday’s Jackpot is now $120,000. The Friday night Mega Millions Jackpot is estimated to be $45 million.
