FAYETTEVILLE, AR (KNWA) - Arkansas junior pitcher Chris Oliver was arrested early Tuesday morning in Fayetteville on DWI charges. Oliver, 20, of Farmington, was pulled over after making an illegal turn onto Martin Luther King Dr. in Fayetteville at 2:22 a.m.
According to the arrest report, Oliver told officers he was returning from a bonfire near Beaver Lake and was taking his passengers back to an apartment down the road. He stated he had two drinks, one at 5 p.m. and one at 7 p.m. Oliver failed a field sobriety test and blew .09 BAC, which is above the state's legal limit of .08. Oliver was booked into the Washington County Jail at 3:50 a.m. and was released less than three hours later.
Oliver finished his junior season at Arkansas with a 9-4 record, 2.51 ERA and 59 strikeouts in 93 and 1/3 innings pitched. Oliver is projected as top three round draft pick in this week's MLB draft.
