Goodyear, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Cincinnati Reds closer Aroldis Chapman will miss 6-to-8 weeks of action after suffering a fracture above his left eye in Wednesday night's spring training game against the Kansas City Royals.

The Reds announced he will undergo surgery Thursday to repair the fracture.

Chapman suffered the injury during the bottom of the sixth inning when a line drive off the bat of Royals catcher Salvador Perez hit his face. Chapman never lost consciousness and he was able to communicate.

The Cactus League game at Surprise Stadium was canceled after the incident, with the Royals leading by a 6-3 score.

Chapman went 4-5 with 38 saves and a 2.54 ERA in 68 appearances last season.
