MAYFLOWER, AR -- Even as cleanup here continues, residents are having to deal with looters preying upon the destruction.
The latest arrest came in the River Plantation subdivision. Deputies with the Faulkner County Sheriff's Office say David Griffin, 72, of Malvern, claimed he was with the agency when he tried to make off with a resident's 4-wheeler.
Victims whose homes have been destroyed can't believe they're now being targeted by crooks, while county officials say they're on high alert.
"I think they ought to be put in jail," said tornado victim, Michael Friga. "That's the lowest of the low right there."
"They are patrolling," said Faulkner County PIO David Hogue of deputies in disaster areas. "They are investigating when they have reports of that, and as far as I can tell they are on top of it."
Griffin was actually registered to serve as a volunteer at a home about a half mile away.
He faces a felony charge for looting during a disaster.
