LITTLE ROCK, AR -- Runners participating in the Little Rock Marathon should be prepared for some changes to their normal route in next year's race.
Organizers were forced to change the course of the marathon due to the upcoming demolition and reconstruction of the Broadway Bridge.
The old route took runners over the bridge and looped into North Little Rock.
But Gina Pharis, race director, says the route will be different for the 2015 competition.
"So, we are going to zigzag downtown Little Rock for the first 13 miles and then head out to the river as we've done in the past and then come back into the River Market area for a finish," Pharis said.
The certification process for the new course took place on Sunday.
Pharis says the route will be more spectator friendly.
