Searcy Police Respond To Alleged Assault

After a mother says her son was sexually assaulted during school hours, Searcy police share a different story.
SEARCY, AR -- There's A FOX16 follow up to a story we first brought you last night at 9:00.

A mother in the Riverview School District says a student rubbed his private parts on her son during a school-sponsored track event.

But tonight, Searcy police are telling us what they say happened.

According to police, the alleged victim took a cell phone from another student.

When that person tried to get the phone back, police say the boy wouldn't give it to him.

Searcy police say another student came to help and bumped the alleged victim in the back of his head with his hip.

The mother admitted her son was involved in a fight over a cell phone after the assault happened.

She says he was rightfully punished for it, by a one day suspension.

She said she's sticking to her son's original story on the assault though and decided to file a police report this afternoon.
